Yesterday, August 1st 2017, marked the beginning of "WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK 2017" and everyday until August 7th 2017, the World Alliance for Breast Feeding Action (WABA) supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO), United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF) and other stake holders all over the world, will continue to organise events and disseminate information to reiterate the theme this year - "SUSTAINING BREASTFEEDING TOGETHER". Study after study continue to prove that there is no perfect substitute for breast milk from the birth of a child through the first 6 months of life but with life and the many challenges that can arise, if breastfeeding has to be successfully sustained, then it must be together as a team and no the responsibility of the biological mother only. WHO Infographics below say it all.

800,000 infant deaths?????God have mercy!!!SUSTAINING BREASTFEEDING TOGETHER is a global necessity!!!

*What many mothers are already doing and more. We must give kudos to them.

What many of us are already doing actually!!!

Better put,"WHAT LAW MAKERS MUST DO"!!!

  1. I am an advocate of exclusive breastfeeding. It takes a lot of sacrifice from the couple to achieve this however, it's becoming more challenging with our ever changing world where mothers now take up tasking jobs in other to make ends meet.

  2. The awareness is grossly inadequate.
I think involving a celebrity e.g Beyonce (who is a nursing mother) will go a long way catapulting the message to the targeted population

  3. The benefit of breastfeeding can never be overemphasized . However most mothers are working class ladies and never breastfeed the child as required. Some however breastfeed the child but complain of excessive cry as the child is never satisfied.I think a campaign should be launched to educate our women on the importance of breastfeeding especially during this 21st era and how the child should be positioned to ensure adequate feeding.

  4. I believe that if given the option, most mothers will readily choose to do Exclusive BF for their babies. But when maternity leave is 2 to 4months in most places, without the option of extending for maybe half pay or even no pay, well.....it's not easy. But we try
